MTR has recently changed the MTR bylaw to harmonize it with the former rules for passengers in the KCR system, acquired by MTR a few years ago.
The new bylaw has retained the section of "no swearing" although it is not as strict as the former KCR bylaw. This section of the by-law was mostly unknown and by-and-large not enforced on the MTR (and the former KCR systems).... this sparked debates on what is "acceptable language".
From a metro user's point of view, how is it possible to define "swearing" if it is not even directed to another passenger? Will MTR list the swear words or expressions explicitly in the by-law? Is swearing in English ok then? It's bizzare

MTR Fares
Hong Kong MTR fares had risen by 2.05% since Jun 13. Since no pre-sale tickets are sold in Hong Kong, it does not impact travelors. It is still considered one of the cheapest metro systems in major world cities. Fares are generally low, except for crossing the harbour or reaching the border with Mainland China
